The Motor Industry Fund Administrators (Pty) Ltd is a registered retirement fund administrator in terms of Section 13B of the Pension Funds Act, with decades of industry experience and a proven track record of performance and integrity. MIFA administers all of the Motor Industry Retirement Funds (MIRF).

APPOINTMENT OF AN INDEPENDENT DIRECTOR OF THE BOARD OF MIFA (MOTOR INDUSTRY FUND ADMINISTRATORS (PTY) LTD

Closing date for applications: 10 December 2021

The MOI of MIFA prescribes that there should be 5 Directors of the Board. Currently there are 4 Directors, and hence this vacancy.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION

The candidate must meet the following requirements:

  1. A post-graduate qualification in Commerce, Finance, Law or Economics
  2. Experience in the administration of retirement funds at a senior level, and in a digital environment.
  3. Independence from any of the parties to the Funds, the Bargaining Council or any service providers to MIFA
  4. Must have excellent communication skills and be able to demonstrate effective engagement at an executive and board level
  5. Should guarantee availability for MIFA Board meetings and Sub-committee meetings.
  6. Should satisfy all fit and proper requirements for a Director of a Board in terms of the Companies Act.

Who We Are

MIFA is registered as a retirement fund administrator in terms of Section 13B of the Pension Funds Act.

MIFA is the administrator for MIRF and their five retirement funds which are the Auto Workers’ Provident Fund, the Motor Industry Provident Fund, the Copartes Pension Fund, the Motor Industry Pension Fund (2005) and the Motor Industry Beneficiary Fund. MIFA performs the following roles and responsibilities amongst others.

  • Payment of all benefits which include withdrawal claims; death claims; ill health benefits; retrenchment claims and more
  • Payment of monthly pensions
  • Payment of monthly beneficiary distributions
  • Performs general administration of the funds
  • Assisting members on benefit statements; claim related enquiries

Our overriding aim is to lift the burden of financial worries over retirement funding from the shoulders of the 298 000 MIRF members, transferring this responsibility to our handpicked industry experts and financial specialists.
